GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

The Oncology Pharmacy Manager on will supervise the operational pharmacy oncology and hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding programs and procedures under the coordination of the regional pharmacy director. Coordinates and ensures provision of education required by regulatory agencies and to develop and measure pharmacist and technician competencies. Responsible for the development of educational programs for pharmacists and technicians.

The manager is expected to provide education oversight and ensure regulatory compliance in applicable areas. Assist director in quality control and performance improvement initiatives. Provides supervision to all levels of oncology pharmacy. The supervisor will oversee the orientation and provide first level oversight, in coordination with facility site manager, for the annual competency evaluations of all sterile compounding and oncology pharmacy and will serve as director\'s designee as assigned. Some travel is expected.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required. Registered with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist. Five years of direct clinical experience with demonstrated leadership expertise in oncology is preferred. PGY1 and/or PGY2 oncology residency preferred. Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) certification preferred.

Additional board certification preferred. Three to five years of direct experience with sterile compounding. Expertise in USP 797 and USP 800 chapters strongly preferred. Prior experience teaching and /training in a clinical setting preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization\'s Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Interfaces with oncologists, various other physician groups, department directors/managers, and staff, to jointly provide services consistent with hospital mission statement and strategic plan daily. Able to perform the oncology staff functions, if necessary, based on the needs of the patient population served and productivity standards established. Understands the 340B program. Knowledge of drug ordering processes, investigational studies and pharmaceutical sponsored programs.

Coordinates oncology formulary management and P&T formulary presentations. Creates and maintains oncology pharmacy relevant policies and procedures. Understands and applies concepts related to project planning, financial data interpretation, budgeting skills, and statistical analysis.

Revenue Management: Understands and provides oversight of department charges by assisting in revenue capture and chargemaster processes. Ensures the accuracy of documenting. Develops and coordinates the departmental orientation program for oncology pharmacy. Maintains the education and competency records of staff, in coordination with to the site-specific manager.

Provides for staff competency evaluation, in coordination with the site-specific manager, during staff performance appraisals. Coordinates required aseptic competencies of pharmacy staff for hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding. Identifies areas for improved safety and efficiency of compounding processes. Maintains regulatory compliance of USP 797 and USP 800 chapters. Participates in all aspects of performance management. Assists regional pharmacy director in developing performance improvement programs.

Identifies and develops continuing education and orientation programs to meet the needs of compliance with regulatory agencies. Able to maintain department staffing schedule to ensure proper utilization of labor to productivity standards. Manages personnel consistent with HR policies and established standards, p erforms/coordinates educational in-services for community and other healthcare providers as needed. Understands and trains staff on all departmental specific electronic system functions. Performs/coordinates the pharmaceutical build within the electronic medical record.
