Job Description

The City of Wahoo is looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and customer-focused

Office Assistant

to support multiple city departments. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and values serving the community.

What You'll Do



Provide clerical and administrative support to the City Administrator, City Clerk, Treasurer/HR Coordinator, and Building Inspector/Zoning Administrator. Prepare reports, maintain records, and assist with billing, licensing, and permits. Serve as a friendly first point of contact for residents--answer phones, greet visitors, and handle payments. Assist with meeting preparation, website updates, newsletters, and city communications. Support city accounting functions and maintain official records. Perform general office duties including data entry, document preparation, and customer service.

What We're Looking For



Education:

Two-year degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Experience:

Two years of office or administrative experience preferred. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, databases). Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain accuracy.

Physical & Work Environment



Primarily office-based with extensive public contact. Requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasional light lifting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.57 - $26.74 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
