Job Description

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) provides therapeutic treatments/modalities to patients to optimize functional recovery and minimize disability as directed by the licensed Occupational Therapist.



Provides care to optimize functional recovery of patient in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist + Collaborates with Occupational Therapists and health care team to implement care plan
+ Provides patient care interventions based on patient acuity and functional status
+ Follows the plan of care and reports on patient status and progress towards goals
+ Participates in planning and operational changes to achieve team and individual performance improvement goals
Observes and documents patient's response to treatment and progress + Assures accurate and efficient documentation of patient progress in patient record
+ In collaboration with Occupational Therapist communicates patient care needs with interdisciplinary health care teams
+ Facilitates patient education and functional maintenance with patients/ families following the plan of care
+ Serves as a patient advocate in identifying functional potential and promoting the appropriate utilization of services


Education:


Associate's Degree
Associate of Applied Science and successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program


Experience:

Clinical experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting


Skills:


Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients * Using computers and Microsoft Office programs
