Wisconsin River Orthopaedics, Ltd. is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist, certified in hand therapy preferred, to join our innovative team of professionals including five physical therapists, two OT/CHTs, and four orthopaedic surgeons--one specializing in hand and upper extremity care.

Wisconsin River Orthopaedics, Ltd. is located in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. We have a progressive team of professionals and provide a wide variety of services including an orthopedic clinic, ambulatory surgery, open MRI, occupational and physical therapy. Candidates must have completed an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate program in Occupational Therapy and be licensed or eligible in the state of Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have experience in the fabrication of custom orthoses and in the evaluation and treatment of injuries and conditions relating to the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Experience in splinting is preferred, but we also welcome candidates who are eager and willing to pursue training in this area.

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluation and implementation of treatment that helps restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Participants in staff meetings and performance activities.

Specific Responsibilities:



A. Implements and Directs Patient Care

Examines patients' medical histories and then test and measure the patients' strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance and motor function. Determines patients' ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community or work place after injury or illness.
3. Develops plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome.

Provides treatment appropriate to all age groups.
B. Provides Communication

Documents all findings of patients' subjective and objective information establishing an assessment of deficits developing short/long term goals and a plan of care. Documents patient progress, conducts periodic exams, and modifies treatment when necessary. Creates custom orthoses and supports as needed based on client injury needs and written orders. Completes a discharge summary. Completes all paperwork associated with insurance reimbursement guidelines. Consults and practices with physicians, physical therapists, case managers and other medical professionals as deemed appropriate. Coordinates patient scheduling within facility. Completes and verifies charge slips.
C. Educational Requirements

Continues professional development by participating in continuing education courses and workshops. Responsible for assisting in the provision of departmental/facility inservices, student education and community education.
D. Other Job-Related Duties and Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of therapist, assign delegated tasks to therapy aide as appropriate. Provides supervision and instruction to students under licensure and reimbursement guidelines. Provides input as requested for performance of competency assessments, research of evidence-based treatment and program development and implementation. Performs other related duties as assigned by director.
Qualifications

A. Minimum of a degree of Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy from an accredited physical therapy program.

B. Background in hand therapy encouraged with possible CHT completed or in progress.

C. Wisconsin licensure or license eligible.

D. Must be CPR certified.

E. Possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and their families.
