Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager. This person will work directly for the Chief of Staff. This position will involve moderately complex project management work for the OAG relating to complex projects with the Texas Facilities Commission. The work will also involve coordinating and evaluating program activities with project staff.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Executes moderately complex projects while reporting to and collaborating closely with a Manager.
Translates high-level project objectives from leadership into detailed project plans, timelines, and task assignments.
Manages day-to-day project operations, including scheduling, resource coordination, risk tracking, and status reporting.
Facilitates cross-functional communication between technical, operational, and business teams to ensure alignment.
Prepares project documentation, dashboards, and progress updates for Manager review and stakeholder presentations.
Identifies project risks and issues, proposes mitigation strategies, and escalates critical blockers to the Manager promptly.
Oversees vendors or contractors as assigned, ensuring deliverables meet quality, scope, and timeline requirements.
Ensures adherence to organizational project management standards, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, hybrid), and compliance policies.
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to the assignment is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Experience: 5 years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: government agency or project management.
Knowledge of project management theories and practices applicable to limited-scope projects; systems and procedures used to evaluate a third-party vendor's performance; and local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the administration of the project undertaken.
Skill in project management monitoring and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
Ability to analyze complex information and develop plans to address identified issues
Ability to demonstrate negotiation and facilitation skills
Ability to identify project risks, to prepare reports and charts
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to assign duties and responsibilities and coordinate the work of project staff.
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space
within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave) Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Prior work in state or federal government.
