The primary duties for the successful candidate will be supporting nursing students in the Practical Nursing and Associate's Degree Nursing programs.
Nursing Peer Tutors will spend a minimum of five hours on the assigned campus each week to assist students. An additional five hours can be spent tutoring via ZOOM hours or in person on campus.
Nature of Work
Provide support to current nursing students, and students seeking entry into the nursing programs.

Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
Possess thorough and accurate knowledge in field/discipline of Nursing.
Demonstrate ability to relate and work effectively with students, peers and the public.
Commit to the mission and objectives of New River Community and Technical College.
Meet the academic demands of the program.
Provide own transportation and be punctual and regular in attendance.
Travel to various campus locations, including evenings.
Be accessible and responsive to students through e-mail, phone, or scheduled hours.
Demonstrate typing and computer skills.
Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.
Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
Help create an entry level test preparation course.
Tutor students to help them prepare for licensure exams.
Tutor current PN and ADN students.
Document hours spent tutoring and number of students helped.
Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in the technical area of expertise.
Well versed in current teaching trends, techniques, resources, and technology for both onsite and virtual learning, as necessary.
In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
Two years' teaching experience in higher education - Preferred
Experience utilizing technology including Microsoft Word and other software programs - Required
Experience teaching over an Interactive Video Network/Zoom is preferred.
Experience teaching and/or working in an Allied Health Field - Preferred
