The Nursing Assistant supports clinical staff by assisting patients with activities of daily living under the delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN). The NA contributes to quality care delivery by observing and reporting changes in patient status, ensuring a safe and healing environment, and embodying Beacon's values of

Patient Care Delivery

Clinical Care


Obtain and document height, weight, intake and output, vital signs, and blood glucose levels. Report abnormal findings in a timely and accurate manner. Perform hourly rounding and respond to call lights. Collect and deliver specimens; transport blood products per policy. Provide 1:1 patient care when assigned.

Activities of Daily Living


Assist with hygiene, grooming, ambulation, repositioning, mobility, and transportation. Ensure the correct diet is provided and assist with feeding as needed. Create and maintain a safe environment for patients. Document all care provided thoroughly and accurately.

Practice self-care: manage workload, take scheduled breaks, and utilize vacation time. Address personal stress appropriately while on duty. Foster a respectful and positive unit culture by adhering to the

Collaborate and communicate effectively with other healthcare team members. Give accurate and thorough shift reports. Supply Inventory & Unit Maintenance




Monitor supply levels and report shortages. Keep patient rooms and unit areas clean and orderly. Perform quality assurance (QA) checks as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities

Attend departmental meetings and remain accountable for shared information. Complete all required annual competencies, education, and employee health tasks on time. Maintain required certifications and professional licensure in good standing. Adhere to infection prevention protocols and ergonomic safety practices. Qualifications

Education & Experience




High school diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum age: 17 Preferred:

+ Nurse Assistant Certification
+ Previous patient care experience
Must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) within 3 months of hire and maintain certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient with hospital equipment and standard procedures Skilled in measuring vital signs and applying good body mechanics Adaptable and responsive to schedule adjustments and unit needs Strong communicator and team collaborator Basic computer literacy and electronic documentation skills

Working Conditions


----------------------


Moderate stress during high census or acuity Possible exposure to infectious diseases or combative patients Works 8-12 hour shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical Demands


--------------------


Must be able to:

+ Walk and stand for extended periods
+ Push wheelchairs or carts up to 50 pounds
+ Lift or position patients up to 35 pounds unassisted (over 35 lbs requires assistance)
+ Perform CPR and physically demanding patient care tasks

Schedule: PRN, Day, 0630-1900
