About Postpartum Patients

  • As part of the obstetrical service Blake and Ellison13 cares for Postpartum patients.
  • The patient care delivery model is Family Centered Care with an emphasis on birthing people and babies rooming in together to enhance the bonding experience.
  • The unit also has a nursery for newborns that meet level I or level II criteria as determined by DPH regulation and medical evaluation.
  • RN is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate nursing care for patients and families through Patient Care Team approach.
  • RN ensures that care is safe, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
About the Postpartum Team
  • Supportive nursing leadership including Nursing Director and unit-based Master\xe2\x80\x99s prepared Nursing Practice Specialist.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork.
  • Competencies preferred include blood transfusion, IV blood draws, newborn care, lactation support, post partum care of vaginal and cesarean births.
  • Opportunities to advance your practice include resource nurse to manage the day-to-day activities, preceptor to new nurses and students, participation in Collaborative Governance Committees, clinical recognition program/ladder.

Qualifications
  • BSN is strongly preferred.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum one-year of experience in maternal child health or similar area preferred.
Position requirements
  • 36 d/n rotation including weekends and holidays.
