SALARY

Annual Salary Range:($93,096.00-$134,824.80 Annually). Salary will be commensurate with experience. Limitations apply to current State Employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation with a Master's Degree or higher advanced degree in Nursing, with a clinical specialty in the appropriate area of practice. Must have successfully completed a Nurse Practitioner program recognized and approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a current advanced practice nursing certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) granted by the Alabama Board of Nursing in the clinical specialty appropriate with the area of practice.

KIND OF WORK

Obtains psychiatric assessment upon admission. Develops individualized treatment plans. Selects appropriate medication based on diagnosis, monitors for side effects and makes adjustments. Documents completely with clarity and accurately recording patient presentations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes. Monitors lab information, including therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), metabolic side effects, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Obtains consent on all patients for medications/procedures/capacity to handle daily affairs, including finances. Communicates clearly and concisely with patients, families and other healthcare providers and provides timely and accurate information. Performs other related duties necessary to the effective operations of the facility.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of general and specific psychiatric diagnoses and treatment specific to the population served. Knowledge of principles and practices of clinical assessment, common health problems, mental health issues, clinical consultation and continuity of patient care Knowledge of common medications/pharmaceutical treatments and their interactions Knowledge of basic laboratory work Ability to work effectively with the population served. Ability to respond well to emergencies in a stressful environment and handle potentially volatile situations in a calm, decisive manner. Ability to develop and interpret medical and psychiatric histories, conduct psychiatric assessments and evaluate client behavior. Ability to communicate with/educate/inform clients, their families, and staff. Ability to develop accurate/concise reports, and document and manage client file information.
