We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including acute and chronic care, geriatrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and behavioral health. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, managing treatment plans, performing procedures such as suturing and catheterization, and utilizing advanced EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks. The Nurse Practitioner will work in diverse settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, telehealth platforms, and post-acute care facilities. Candidates with experience in specialty areas like gastroenterology, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, or working with special populations such as seniors or individuals with developmental disabilities are highly preferred.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history review.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans across multiple specialties including acute pain management, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, IV infusion/insertion, catheterization, spinal taps, and dermal fillers.
Manage complex cases involving ICU/Level I & II trauma center experience, emergency medicine procedures, and hospital medicine protocols.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
Provide telehealth consultations utilizing telemedicine platforms with experience in telehealth systems.
Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to ensure continuity of care.
Administer medications including injections and vaccinations while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Engage in patient education on topics such as nutrition, health coaching, family planning, and memory/dementia care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as NICU/PICU/Neonatal ventilator management or post-acute/sub-acute care environments.
Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during procedures like specimen collection or sterile processing.
Qualifications
Valid Nurse Practitioner license with current certification to practice independently.
Proven experience in diverse clinical settings including hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), emergency rooms (ER), urgent care clinics, outpatient clinics, or nursing homes.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, CPT & ICD coding (including ICD-9 & ICD-10), and medical documentation standards.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner (Cerner PowerChart), Athenahealth (eClinicalWorks), and telehealth platforms.
Demonstrated expertise in performing procedures like suturing, phlebotomy/venipuncture, catheter care/placement, gastric lavage or NG tube feeding management.
Experience working with specialized populations including geriatrics (memory/dementia care), pediatrics (neonatal to toddler care), behavioral health patients or individuals with developmental disabilities.
Ability to work effectively within infection control standards and sterile techniques in various clinical environments.
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and manage complex cases involving infectious diseases or acute trauma cases.
Prior experience in hospice & palliative medicine or occupational health is a plus; familiarity with Workers' Compensation law is advantageous.
