Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Nurse Practitioner
to join our advanced Heart Failure ICU team. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and follow-up for complex cardiac and transplant patients in a Level I trauma center setting.
This is an opportunity to work alongside leading professionals in cardiovascular care, while advancing your expertise with high-acuity populations such as heart and lung transplant patients, LVAD, ECMO, and post-operative cardiac surgery cases.
Key Responsibilities
Manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions in an ICU setting.
Diagnose and treat patients with advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and post-transplant needs.
Perform systemic patient assessments, order/interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe evidence-based care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams.
Deliver patient-centered, compassionate care while maintaining compliance with professional standards and the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications
US Citizenship
required.
Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner
in the State of Texas.
National certification as Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - AGACNP
(ANCC, AANP, or AACN accepted).
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Minimum of 2 years of ICU/critical care experience (RN or NP)
in cardiology, cardiovascular, or cardiac care.
For new NPs: Must have 2-3 years of RN experience in Critical Care ICU, Cardiac Care, CV recovery, LVADs, and ECMO.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with heart failure populations.
Previous Acute Care NP experience in cardiac or transplant ICUs.
Background in heart failure ICU RN practice.
