Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner specializing in Gastroenterology (GI) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in clinical assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning within gastroenterology and related fields. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across outpatient and inpatient settings, utilizing advanced medical knowledge and EMR/EHR systems to enhance patient outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional GI care, including procedures such as endoscopies, suturing, and gastric lavage, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical standards.

Duties

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, vital signs, and physiological evaluations. Perform diagnostic procedures such as sonography, gastroscopy, colonoscopy preparation as needed. Manage acute and chronic GI conditions through medication administration, IV infusion therapy, botulinum toxin treatments, and pain management strategies. Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, and GMED. Ensure infection control protocols and aseptic techniques are maintained during all procedures to uphold safety standards. Provide education on health coaching topics including medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications for diverse patient populations including seniors.

Skills

Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy (including neuroanatomy), physiology, CPT coding & ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10). Experience managing complex cases involving acute pain management, airway management (ventilators), gastrostomy tube feeding & NG tube placement. Familiarity with hospital medicine environments including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers; ICU/ PICU experience advantageous. Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance standards. Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to evaluate vital signs accurately and perform diagnostic evaluations efficiently. Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams dedicated to providing high-quality GI care.
