Job Description


Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner shall be licensed in the State of Mississippi and must practice according to a board approved protocol which has mutual agreement of and by a Mississippi licensed physician and the approval by the Board of Trustees. Confers with physician(s) concerning assigned patients. Keeps physician(s) informed, as is appropriate, of needs and problems related to patient care. Complies with established standards. Implements and maintains established clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Interprets these to physician(s), patients, and public as is appropriate. Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve clinic objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental relations, and public relations. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information, and abides by established communications code. The Nurse Practitioner must utilize a growth and development knowledge base in the care of children (pediatric), adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Receives administrative supervision by the FMRC Operations Manager. Receives medical supervision by the FMRC Supervising Provider. \xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Maintain confidentiality to patients and co-workers

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate the ability to coordinate patient care/treatment recommendations with nurses and providers

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate the ability to stay current on the latest medical updates

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate the ability to adapt work habits to new or unexpected circumstances, notify and lead others as appropriate when circumstances change suddenly.

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks such as transferring patient and lifting supplies

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate the ability to work in a high paced work environment, multitasking, while delivering quality patient care services \xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Consistently recognizes early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental illness/problems, and refers the patient to a physician to facilitate quality patient care

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Consistently provides adequate surveillance of medical regimens for chronically ill patients by using established protocols and recognizing when to refer a patient to a physician or other healthcare provider

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Consistently and accurately documents all events in the patient record to allow information to be accessible to others as needed

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Consistently and appropriately confers with other healthcare professionals to create appropriate, comprehensive care plans

\xc3\xaf\xe2\x80\x9a\xc2\xb7 Effectively collaborates with physicians by referring complicated or unclear cases to them to facilitate quality patient care
