Required Licenses and Certifications


Registered Nurse in Vermont or compact licensure valid in Vermont

This position provides professional nursing services to residents. The Nurse Manager works collaboratively with organization leadership. Provides clinical oversight and direction to the nursing staff. Position is also responsible for nursing staff scheduling and medication delegation training for program staff. This position will provide nursing support to residents and staff, as well as to provide oversight and Implementation of groups and trainings for same. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Director of Nursing. This position provides a dynamic and collaborative presence in organizational leadership and in the organization's commitment to recovery principles, provision of trauma-informed care, and cultural diversity. This position location is split in a 3/2 model with 3 days working at Second Spring South and 2 days working at Second Spring North each week.

Responsibilities Include



Complete Relias training on running the floor and pass the quiz at the end of the training. Pass training/test periodically as assigned. Up to date in all NAPPI/Welle trainings to the extent offered by CSC. At all times, remain able to pass verbal or written quiz on emergency protocols and competently implement them when appropriate. Understands how/when to use on-call.

Relate to residents as partners who invest in their recovery, not as sick, helpless, or bad people needing your expertise to change "them" Spend significant time on the floor with front-line staff and residents.

Policies, Protocols, Procedures, and Paperwork



Follow CSC policies, protocols, and procedures Adhere to Code of Conduct, General Performance Expectations, confidentiality policies, and all laws and applicable regulations. Complete administrative tasks including maintaining records of work performed and hours worked as requested by supervisor, submitting EHR notes, incident reports, etc. Follow safety related protocols in a manner that is timely and accurate Competently use crisis intervention protocols, skills, and safety trainings

Continuous Learning



Participate in trainings, discussions, and other relevant learning opportunities Actively participate in supervision and staff meetings Be up to date with assigned trainings (Relias, CPR, NAPPI, etc. Be prepared for supervision meetings with questions, ideas, suggestions, and what you need for support from your team, supervisor, and CSC. Stay updated on industry trends around mental health systems, evidence- based practices, quality improvement, and administration tools

Clinical Expertise



Provide excellent direct nursing care for residents, including the ability to inspire hope and demonstrate compassion Provide clinical consultation for nursing staff, program staff and leadership, primary care APRN, physicians, etc. Solely responsible for oversight of med/pharm services to residents (under the guidance of psychiatrist/APRN provider), including medication ordering, med error tracking and mitigation. Responsible for ensuring a well-organized and -equipped nursing/medication room that supports high-quality care Subject to On Call

Leadership and Training



Maintains final responsibility for availability of medication-delegated staff sufficient to prevent staffing challenges, and for the quality and tracking of medication-delegated staff in a manner that meets all regulatory requirements and CSC standards of quality. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Director of Quality Improvement & Compliance, Clinical Directors, and Director of HR, identify the need for, develop, and implement ongoing clinical educational programming for RN and non-RN staff. Provides high-quality, compassionate, and structured supervision for supervisees (including weekly supervision check-ins, collaboration with others to ensure accurate/timely feedback, learning and implementing CSC's model of supervision, etc.). Likely/approximate list of supervisees includes: All RNs, TL's, ATL's, RSS's with med-del certification as assigned, Volunteer to help fill gaps caused by other CSC leaders' absences (vacation, position vacancy, etc.) Initiate and set goals for programs based on strategic planning. Supervises team of 6-8 nurses

CSC-Wide and System of Care Focus



Some on-call responsibilities. Participate on admissions team, clinical rounds; CG; Workgroup[KO1] ; lead or participate in other committees. Work with all leaders of CSC to build strong teams through open communication via collaborating on decision-making responsibilities QI activities in collaboration with other organizational leaders. Liaison with area academic programs (e.g., nursing schools) to provide internships, lectures, staff recruiting, etc. Proactive and engaged in CSC's efforts at outcomes measurement

Policy Development, Outcomes, and Regulatory Compliance



Review and recommend needed changes to CSC Policy, Procedure, and Protocols, in collaboration with Director of Nursing Proactive and engaged in CSC's efforts at outcomes measurement Actively collaborates with Director of Quality Improvement & Compliance in documentation audits, and ensures improvement in documentation compliance related to supervisees' work Maintains comprehensive understanding of DAIL regulations, federal and state laws, and other regulatory requirements, and proactively ensures compliance with them

Prioritize creating a healthy team environment with program leadership team, including demonstrated commitment to improving team's level of development.

Environmental Factors



Duties are performed in a variety of settings (i.e. community residence, Agency). There is direct interaction with mentally ill adults and/or individuals with substance abuse issues who are experiencing a significant mental health crisis. Private means of transportation, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance are required. Interaction with clients poses some risk of physical injury or property damage. An incumbent may encounter situations that may elicit high levels of stress. Crisis situations can occur at any time. Evening, overnight, or weekend work may be required. Must be able to work independently, use sound judgment, and critical thinking skills.
