Nurse Extern
Job Description
The Nurse Extern is an auxiliary team member enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and employed to perform supportive and complementary duties related to nursing practice. The Nurse Extern performs specific patient care tasks that have been mastered through his or her course of study and have been demonstrated satisfactorily under the direct supervision of an RN preceptor.
+ Currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program and within one (1) year of graduation.
+ Minimum grade of "C" in nursing courses preferred.
+ Current CPR certification required.
+ Maintains good physical and emotional health.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to use proper channels of communication.
+ Ability to remain calm and function effectively under stressful situations.
+ Demonstrates flexibility and cooperation in rotating shifts and/or duty areas.
+ Promotes harmonious inter- and intra-departmental relationships.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
+ Subject to irregular hours and weekend work as needed.
+ Requires frequent interaction with patients, families, and fellow employees on a daily basis.
