Position Summary:

This is an on ground teaching position for Coastal Career Academy who is seeking an outstanding Instructor for our Nursing Assistant Program. The successful candidate will report to the RN,Program Director.

The Nursing instructor teaches theory and fundamentals of nursing, and supervises students as they practice clinical tasks. This person evaluates student progress through observation and testing, and maintains student records of attendance and grades. The Nursing Assistant instructor works within the framework of curriculum developed by the teaching facility and will be responsible for the overall success of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to physically demonstrate hands-on skills as needed to pass the state certification exam Ability to teach critical thinking and healthcare theory as needed to pass the state certification exam Ability to identify students who are having difficulty with the material and provide a different learning approach to help them better comprehend the material. Ability to train the students in technical skills such as checking blood pressure and respiration rate, and re-positioning a patient in bed The instructor teaches safety and emergency procedures, and how to respond to different patient behaviors Ability to follow a pre-existing lesson plan Ability to create their own lesson plan as the needs of the program/individual classes evolve Ability to act as a clinical instructor at 3rd party externship sites as needed Technically savvy (ability to learn new technology and implement its use within a reasonable amount of time) Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 5 hours) and lift up to 50LBS on occasion

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:

prior work as a nurse assistant instructor 1 to 3 years of relevant for profit healthcare school experience (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience Teaching or public speaking experience preferred Work experience as a CNA or an immediate supervisor to CNAs
