Saint Joseph's Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Aide II with demonstrated skills in core and primary care specific competencies based on the patient population served. The Nurse Aide II provides direct patient care to specified groups of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Medical Director. The Nurse Aide II will work in our Ambulatory Services Department and will cover other sites as needed.
Obtains and documents blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, weight, length, and head circumference on pediatric patients
Documents screenings, patient smoking, date of last mammogram, menstruation, Pap smear for female patients, pain level using the pain assessment scale etc.
Reports patient/family concerns to the RN or LPN, i.e., abusive situations
Reports all observable or measured findings related to the patient care needs to the RN or LPN
Assists others in the completion of assignments, as directed
Responds appropriately in emergency situations, responding for help when necessary
Recognizes safety hazards and reports same to the nurse in charge, i.e., broken furniture, fluid spills
Maintains a sterile and clean environment and prepares the room for the patient
Requests supplies (medical, surgical, pharmacy, paper), weekly, with cost saving strategies in mind, when assigned
Checks and returns all extra and expired supplies immediately
Stocks examination rooms. Keeps rooms neat
Checks expiration dates and removes expired items
Assists with procedures, examinations, and treatment of patients as directed
Identifies own strengths in areas of clinical practice and learning needs
Performs phlebotomy and ensure patient safety use standard of practice when reconciling specimens
