Job Description


Clover Leaf is looking for a Nuclear and Hazardous Material Technician to join our growing team. The position will involve work with a Department of Energy client in Los Alamos, NM. We are looking for someone who can work as part of a team and individually.

We are seeking a Waste Handling Technician to provide technical assistance in the loading, shipping, and storage of various types of wastes, including solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and mixed wastes. As a Nuclear and Hazardous Material Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and compliant handling of waste materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle drums and other containers of waste, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
  • Operate forklifts and other mechanical loading/handling equipment to transport and position waste containers.
  • Maintain accurate records and track documents related to waste handling activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in decontamination, decommissioning, and demolition activities of process equipment used at Weapons Production and Supporting Facilities.
  • Participate in routine room wipe-down activities and decontamination services to minimize risks to programmatic operations.
  • Work closely with the team to prepare, review, and follow approved work-authorizing documents.
  • Adhere to training requirements for hazardous workers, including Hazwoper, Rad Worker II, and respirator qualification.
  • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks associated with waste handling.
Qualifications:
  • Position typically requires a minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree.
  • One-to-two years of related experience in waste handling or a similar field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and procedures is desirable.
  • Possession of Q-clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Q-clearance is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts and other mechanical loading/handling equipment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork.
