The Center for Access and Linkage to Healthcare (CALH) works to ensure residents of New Mexico have access to health services in public health regions in New Mexico with a focus on disease prevention, harm reduction, and health promotion.
Why does the job exist?
This position would serve as the Region Director to lead and direct the Northeast Region comprised of ten (10) counties administering multiple public health programs. Services include: Children's Medical Services, (CMS) , Clinical Health Services (immunizations, family planning, Tuberculosis, breast and cervical cancer screening, harm reduction, etc.) Disease Prevention Services (DPS) (Sexually Transmitted disease (STD) and HIV Testing, tracking and treatment, harm reduction, etc.) epidemiology (surveillance, investigation, and treatment of reportable diseases), Health Promotion, School Health and Emergency Planning and Preparedness and Medicated Opioid Use Disorder Treatment.
How does it get done?
This position will be responsible for management of the Northeast region, Public Health division of the Department of Health and will oversee budget, planning, Implementation and reconciliation, fiscal management and facilities oversight and staff. The incumbent will manage public health activities across a wide variety of programs, Including Children's Medical Services and Disease Prevention and Administration. The incumbent will be responsible for annual planning and plan implementation, staffing, resources and services. Incumbent will have significant involvement in the division's transformational change initiatives to evolve the division's programs and services toward the public health needs of tomorrow. This position works In partnership with other Department of Health Divisions, regions, bureaus, local and statewide entities to assure that public health needs are met and that transparency is maintained with the department.

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Finance, or a related field and five (5) years of experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, providing or requesting information from the general public, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDTI and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay ls required. Responding to emergency situations may be needed.
