Job Description

The NOC Technician position is a technical position within our Managed Services team. The position is responsible for assisting with escalations from the helpdesk, field
technicians, and other departments.

Responsibilities



Diagnose network problems and provide customers with effective resolutions Continually increases technical knowledge of assigned technologies and demonstrate application of that knowledge. Document all network outages, calls and solutions in the trouble ticket database. Engage field operations for network equipment issues as needed; use software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose network status and problems; use provided tools to localize network problems to host or remote equipment. Escalate more difficult issues to appropriate technical team. Diagnose network problems and provide customers with effective resolutions

Competencies



Knowledge of networking, RF and satellite communications with a focus on troubleshooting, analysis, testing, maintenance and documentation Familiarity with networking technology Ability to replace and install routers, switches, and other equipment Field experience in RF, installation and onsite troubleshooting Knowledge of computer operating systems, databases, software engineering, and wireless technologies Excellent troubleshooting and resolution skills. Good communication skills, both in writing and verbally. Ability to articulate technical issues in business terms. Ability to jointly troubleshoot and collaborate with other team members with different areas of expertise level. Ability to work in a time-critical environment. Ability to work as part of a team. Resourcefulness in getting the job done by working through or around challenges and obstacles. Takes initiative without close supervision and proactively resolves customer issues. Willingness to learn and scale up in competencies. Sense of urgency, initiative and a competitive drive to get things done. Acquire appropriate certifications and educational advancements as required.

Qualifications and Experience



Degree in communications technology or information technology or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge. 2 years experience in network operations customer service Knowledge of wireless telecommunications network management systems Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to effectively triage problems
