Job Summary:

The NOC Service Engineer helps to manage and assists with the research, administration, and maintenance of new or existing Storage, UNIX, Windows, and VMware technologies. The NOC Service Engineer utilizes proven systems, scripting, and developer skills to execute on tasks related to onboarding technology, incident, problem, and change management. The role works closely with engineering teams to provide feedback that can help improve system availability.

The NOC Service Engineer has a broad understanding of Enterprise Infrastructure systems including NAS, SAN, Windows Server 2012/2022, RedHat 5-8, AWS, and Azure preferably in an operations role and can provide level 3 support following operating procedures. They will also have a thorough understanding of how automation and or orchestration initiates repairs in an operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, Investigate, and manage Incident resolution trends, creating solutions to alert, automate, or avoid incidents.
  • Drive ECC calls, troubleshoot impacting incidents and escalated issues to resolution.
  • Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities including impact assessment and peering related changes.
  • Manage all Problem records, serving as escalation point for lower bands, drive due dates, and maintain leadership awareness.
  • Establish, review, and invoke standards and procedures across stacks or all areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee all aspects of projects by, set deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of project.
  • Utilizes existing tools and leverage open-source solutions to help automate tasks with an emphasis on availability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Provide feedback to the different departments focusing on strategy, service integration, monitoring, documentation, and automation opportunities through regular meetings and presentations.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset with the team, embracing a DevOps culture and constantly finding ways to make our systems more reliable.
  • Teach/Mentor Jr Engineers on supported technology integration with focus on service improvement to help them grow to the next level.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators to ensure risks are being managed and to help avoid future impact using data analytics and AIOP\'s.
Education and Experience:
  • BS in Computer Science, or related technical field involving coding or equivalent technical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with in one or more technology areas.

Technical skills
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Linux Red Hat RHEL 5-8 or Oracle Linux 5.6, 6X, 7X, 8, LVM, VERITAS (Cluster Services, File system, Volume manager), Oracle and HP Blades Hardware knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of SAN and NAS Storage systems (Scality, Hitachi, NetApp, and Brocade)
  • Strong ability to resolve incidents using strong troubleshooting methodologies and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient with AWS or Azure platforms.
  • Proficient with any of the programming languages, Powershell, Python, YAML, and Groovy.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure DevOps tools such as, JSON, VXML, GitHub, Ansible, bash, & Jenkins.
  • Proficient knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows and VMWare systems.
  • Familiarity with data protection technologies, including backup and anti-virus systems.
  • Proficiency with core Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WINS, IIS).
  • Familiarity with HP/Dell/Cisco Blade Chassis and rack-mount servers.
  • Familiarity with building and sustaining interconnected production services with APIs.
  • Scality, NetApp, Hitachi, RedHat, AWS, Azure, VMware, and Microsoft server certifications a plus.

Compensation offered for this role is $82,000.00-$146,125.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
