The Night Manager position is a seasonal job from January 5, 2026-March 31, 2026.

The Night Manager will be assigned to work overnight hours at the winter emergency shelter location. Available work hours are Sunday-Saturday (seven days a week) from 5:00 PM-7:00 AM.

Pay rate is $16.00/hour.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Position Summary:

This position will oversee the physical operation at one of the winter emergency shelter site location and its residents during the overnight shift. Works closely with supervisor, other coworkers, and volunteers. Ensure that the supervisor is informed of any issues that may have occurred during the shift.

Work Schedule:

This position will work during the overnight shift; hours and days of work may vary at the winter emergency shelter site location. January-March 2026. Time limited to duration of the winter emergency shelter program.

Essential Functions:



Ensure that Weaver House Emergency Shelter policies and rules are followed consistently at the winter emergency site location as set forth by policies, procedures, rules, memos, and other guidelines. Ensure that the Site Coordinator and Director of Case Management are informed of issues relating to personnel, residents, and operational concerns that may have occurred during the shift. Assist volunteers with evening meals for residents and giving out breakfast/snack bags to residents in the morning. Respond compassionately, professionally, and firmly to winter emergency shelter residents by: 1) Treating all winter emergency shelter residents with courtesy, dignity, and respect; 2) Not using degrading names or profanity with guests; 3) Treating residents as adults with both rights and responsibilities; 4) Employing empathy and intervention skills to avoid confrontations; and 5) Ability to work with a variety of client needs, issues, and responses. Following the specific church's procedures to make sure that the winter emergency shelter site location remains secure. Duties may include: 1) Making sure each winter emergency shelter resident is searched prior to entering sleeping quarters including manual search of bags; 2) Making sure doors are locked, alarms set, and ensuring building is safe and secure; 3) Warning and/or discharging any guest who poses a real or potential threat to life, property, or who violates rules; and 4) Calling police, as necessary.

Other Functions:



The Night Manager is expected to be flexible to work as conditions deem necessary. Other duties as management may be deemed necessary. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

Working Conditions:



Indoor shelter environment. Some exposure to outdoor temperatures.

Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:



High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or relevant social services preferred. Experience in human services preferred.

Other Requirements:



Ability to work with individuals experiencing challenges related to mental health, physical health, or substance abuse in unexpected and stressful situations. Standing, walking, climbing, sitting, pushing, pulling, seeing, hearing, reading, writing, and problem solving.

Key Competencies:



Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills (listening, written, and verbal). Requires ability to respond quickly and make sound decisions in unexpected situations when dealing with diverse clients who may experience challenges related to mental health, physical health, or substance abuse. Requires ability to remain calm in stressful situations. * Must be compassionate, flexible, and demonstrate the ability to deal with diverse people and situations.
