As a
Veterinary Technician
in our
Neurology & Neurosurgery
department, you will play a vital role in supporting our specialists and ensuring the best possible patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:
Prepare surgical suite for each patient
Prepare patients for anesthetic procedures including pre-op medications, induction/intubation, shaving and scrubbing surgical sites
Monitor anesthesia for pets undergoing MRI
Keep accurate anesthesia/surgical medical records
Recover patients from anesthesia, know and understand abnormal and when to alert the doctor
Post-operative care including bandage changes, wound dressings, and physical restrictions
Ability to perform advanced veterinary technician duties. Including but not limited to: venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluids and CRIs.
Strong medical math skills. (Including being able to calculate fluid rate, common CRI's and multimodal drug infusion.)
Utilize digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning.
Increase efficiency of the doctor staff by providing care and support to patients, clients, and hospital staff
Provide excellent medical support and compassionate care for patients and clients
Create and review estimates with clients for procedures
Obtain and run/process lab samples.
Assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments and procedures.
Restraint of both dogs and cats
Comfortable with IV/IM/SQ injections
Physically able and willing to lift up to 40 lbs.
Stocking and cleaning
(or eligible for licensing in California) is a plus, but not required
Previous experience in
neurology, surgery, or emergency medicine
is a plus
Strong technical skills, including anesthesia monitoring and patient handling
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty environment
Compassionate, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
