General Description and Classification Standards High-level senior leadership position responsible for designs, develops, maintains, evaluates, and troubleshoots current telephony applications, network hardware and software; evaluates their ability to support specific requirements and interface with other equipment and systems. Directly responsible for the planning and execution of many large-scale CoA systems implementations and projects from the telephony and network infrastructure perspective and high-profile projects. Responsible for implementing security solutions for voice/data networks; Additionally, define requirements, evaluate and plan/manage changes to the voice and data infrastructure. Maintain current knowledge of current and emerging technologies, regularly analyzing, and evaluating their impact and benefit to CoA. Provide backup support for other members of the Telecom/Network Engineering team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as the lead network engineer, technical architect/design expert, and implementation expert for telephony and networking projects across the enterprise.
  • Serves as the lead for implementation for SIP/IP Flex for VOIP Communication.
  • Collaborate w/ enterprise IT engineers on cloud migration efforts for telephony, network and security.
  • Directly participates in the design, development, and implementation of highly complex and highly available LAN/WAN systems, cloud migration efforts in accordance with the City of Atlanta\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to other Telecom and Network Engineers.
  • Serves as lead and subject matter expert (SME) on highly visible projects that have a Network /Telecom infrastructure component.
  • Collaborates with contractors, vendors, and other internal departments as needed to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Recommends and documents enhancements to existing networking systems and infrastructure.
  • Configures, maintains, and upgrades various networking components.
  • Racks, wires, and mounts networking components as needed.
  • Provides after hours production support on a rotational basis.
  • Serves as the lead SME escalation point of contact for complex enterprise technical issues and troubleshooting.
  • Documents complex networking environments using industry standard tools.
  • Familiarity with UCS Cisco Call Manager
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools such as SolarWinds, hardware and routing protocol
  • Advanced knowledge of the network operating systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis). 2 years\' of specific professional work experience. Preferred Education & Experience Masters degree in computer science or engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the masters degree on an exception basis) with 2-4 years\' of directly related professional work.
