Network Architect - Consultant (Hybrid, South Carolina)
Location: Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week in Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)
Residency Requirement: Must be a current South Carolina resident (no relocation)
Travel: Valid driver's license required; occasional travel to client sites around Columbia
Interview Process: 1 virtual round (video required)
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Network Architect Consultant to provide technical expertise in the design, development, and support of enterprise voice and data communication networks. This role will focus on secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability and performance.
Required Skills

  • 6+ years: Cisco Firewalls, VPN, Switches, Routers, Hardware Administration, DHCP
  • 4-6 years: Cisco ISE
  • 6+ years: Wireshark
  • 2+ years: Azure Cloud & Virtualization
  • 2-4 years: Datacenter, Cloud, and Network Infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of multi-tiered architectures, emerging technologies, and IT systems
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Valid driver's license
Tools/Environments: Cisco FMC, ASDM, Cisco ISE, Putty
Preferred Skills
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, MCSE)
  • 6+ years of LAN/MAN/WAN design and operations (servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access, cloud storage, network security)
  • Self-starter with ability to mentor peers and collaborate across teams
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support secure network infrastructure (firewalls, wireless, ISE, VPN)
  • Monitor and troubleshoot telecommunications between client endpoints and data centers
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and support teams to optimize performance and mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Provide architectural frameworks for system development and enhancements
  • Conduct usability testing, scalability analysis, and ensure compliance with security requirements
  • Mentor junior staff and support off-hours maintenance as needed
