We are a Senior Assistant Resident Engineer to join our Graham Resident Engineering team and oversee contracts in Alamance county.
In this role you will:
Manage highway construction contract administration and supervise contract construction work, establishment of engineering controls for the contractor, and construction work inspections.
Manage contract administration of all types of construction projects, including Central and Division let contracts. This position requires.
Prepare monthly estimates, final estimates, and other record keeping during the contract construction project lifecycle.
What You Bring
Proficiency reading plans, performing highway engineering calculations, and familiarity in survey instrument operations.
Knowledge of contract administration to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with NCDOT Specifications, Standard Drawings, and Policies.
Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering and construction methods, materials and equipment in performance of Contract Administration functions (estimates, supplemental agreements, claims, correspondence, submittals, monthly construction meetings, ensures environmental compliance.
Experience in supervising subordinate employees, to include supervision of Construction Engineering Inspection personnel to meet Department goals.
Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups.
Experience in the management of multiple projects and directing multiple work crews.
Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts, interpret construction plans, provisions, standards and specifications.
Ability to train, coordinate, and supervise subordinate employees.
Communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, contractor personnel, and the public.
Ability to make Field Engineering Decisions.
Contract Administration experience (estimates, supplemental agreements, claims, correspondence, submittals, monthly construction meetings, ensures environmental compliance, etc.).
Ability to withstand extreme weather and terrain conditions while performing duties.
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Management Prefers
Candidates with HiCAMS and SharePoint Experience.
Candidates registered as a Professional Engineer by NC Board of Examiners for Engineers & Surveyors.
Candidates with a valid driver's license.
Notes
Safety toe shoes are required within 30 days of hire.
Night and weekend work may be required.
We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Education & Experience
Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
3+ years of relevant experience; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
