Job Summary

Enjoy working in Kirkland\'s beautiful parks this summer. Co-lead outdoor camps for ages 5-7 and 7-10 in two amazing park settings. Guide and inspire children to appreciate their natural surroundings. Uncover the magic of bugs and animals, flowers and trees, various forms of weather, and creeks, ponds, and lakes through art, science, and exploration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
  • Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification prior to start date.
  • Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
  • Must be 18 or older.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, caring for children
  • Reliable and organized
  • Enthusiasm and passion for nature.
Other

Physical Demands and Working Environment: Work may be performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, including City facilities such as community centers, City parks, Lake Washington School District facilities and off-site locations. Work settings may involve high levels of noise, many people, adverse weather conditions, uneven terrain, standing for extended periods of time, and interruptions. Desk assignments are done at a computer terminal. Selection Process
Applicants whose qualifications most closely match our requirements and are selected to move forward in the process will be notified. We anticipate filling two or three positions. Job open until filled with a first review date on 15th day after initial posting. Candidates who are selected to interview will be required to complete a Criminal History Release Form and an RCW Supplemental Questionnaire.
