Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music therapy and experience working with diverse populations, including children and individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves using music as a therapeutic tool to enhance the emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of clients. The Music Therapist will work in a Public School District in the Houston, TX area.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized music therapy treatment plans based on client assessments and needs. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions utilizing music as a therapeutic medium. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care. Engage clients in musical activities that promote emotional expression, cognitive development, and social interaction. Provide support for clients with behavioral health issues, including addiction counseling and mental health counseling. Work closely with children, individuals with autism, and those requiring dementia care to tailor sessions effectively. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in music therapy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field. Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) is preferred. Experience working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and recreational therapy practices. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in hospice care or pediatrics is an advantage.
