Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
The City of Albuquerque's Department of Arts & Culture seeks a skilled Museum Preparator to join the exhibition and collections care team at the Albuquerque Museum. This hands-on role supports the design, fabrication, and installation of exhibitions by crafting custom mounts and display elements, handling and installing artworks and artifacts, and ensuring professional standards of presentation and care. Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in fine arts, art history or related field; and
Two (2) years experience working with museum or gallery collections in any of the following areas: designing exhibits, constructing and fabricating exhibits, installing exhibits or ensuring proper handling and packing of art and/or artifacts.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a Fork-lift Operator Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
