Job Description


Current vacancy: There is one vacancy with the Department of Customer Services, Division of Motor Vehicle Licensing and Permits. The position plans coordinates, and administers the activities of the Motor Vehicle Branch. Examples of duties include the following:

  • Coordinates and administers the activities of the Registration, Cashiering and Information/Processing Sections to satisfy statutory requirements. This involves evaluating and recommending changes in policies and procedures for improvements of operations and compliance with statutory changes, preparing and projecting budget needs, reviewing and interpreting statutes pertaining to registration of motor vehicles and trailers and recommending appropriate legislation to improve regulatory functions, etc.
  • Supervise motor vehicle registration programs, which involves providing subordinates with interpretation of statutes, ordinances, policies, procedures and rules and regulations, monitoring activities to ensure proper and efficient registration of vehicles and collection of fees and taxes, using independent judgment and statutory knowledge to answer questions, provide information, and handle and resolve complaints involving complex registration related inquiries, etc.
  • Train, instruct and provide documentation to other agency supervisors that perform vehicle and trailer registration activities on behalf of the Branch to ensure vehicle and trailer registration standard and consistent operating procedures through a variety of means - by telephone, email, fax, internet, regular mail or in-person.
  • Attend court proceedings to give expert testimony on pertinent information on registration and titling of motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Coordinate registration operations with law enforcement agencies, Department of Information Technology, Traffic Violations Bureau, State Department of Transportation, other jurisdictions and other regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor\'s degree in business or public administration or a related field.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three years of progressively responsible professional experience which involved
  • Planning laws, policies, and/or regulations for a program;
  • Developing laws, policies, and/or regulations for a program;
  • Interpreting laws, policies and/or regulations for a program; OR
  • Implementing laws, policies, and/or regulations for a program.
