The Motor Grader Operator is responsible for operating a motor grader to fine-grade surfaces for road construction, site development, and utility projects. This role requires precision, attention to grade and slope, and the ability to work safely around crews, equipment, and traffic while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate motor grader to spread, level, and finish materials such as dirt, gravel, and aggregate to specified grades and tolerances
Read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and instructions from supervision
Perform fine grading for roadways, shoulders, ditches, pads, and subgrades
Work closely with foremen, survey, and ground crews to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Maintain safe operation around traffic control, pedestrians, and other equipment
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment
Perform basic maintenance and keep equipment clean (greasing, checking fluids, minor adjustments)
Identify mechanical issues and report them immediately
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite rules
Maintain productivity expectations while ensuring quality workmanship
Assist with other tasks as needed when grader work is not available

Position Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience operating a motor grader in a construction environment
Strong understanding of grades, slopes, and elevations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of construction safety standards and traffic control awareness
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to take direction and communicate effectively with team members

Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of motor grader experience
Experience in road construction, DOT work, or site development
Familiarity with GPS or automated grade control systems
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required unless job specific)

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
Ability to climb on and off equipment multiple times per day
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to work long hours, including overtime when required
