Motion Graphics Supervisor for BYU Broadcasting
Job Summary

The Motion Graphics Supervisor is a highly artistic, extremely talented, creative conceptualizer-designer and animator. This person is central to the effort to create high quality graphical elements that move and identify the brand of new shows, sports interstitials, station branding, promotional and marketing media that will be integrated into BYU Broadcasting\xe2\x80\x99s productions. This person will use custom software to design creative moving 2-D and 3-D \xe2\x80\x9cmotion graphics\xe2\x80\x9d for assigned programming and projects, for all the BYU Broadcasting properties. This position will lead, mentor, and train a team of student designers in the motion graphic department. Essential Functions

Broadcast Motion Graphic Creation

  • Work with producers, vendors, directors, and other production staff to conceptualize, design and create motion graphical elements and packages for programs, live events, station branding, and various on-air elements.
  • Constantly work to ensure consistency and artistic quality of BYUB productions for on-air properties.
  • This includes, but not limited to custom show opens, sports features, underwriting, promotional campaigns, in-show features, and more.
  • Must work within time constraints to ensure all features are produced and delivered on time and within specifications.
Student organization, training and development
  • Develop and implement a training strategy to grow a team of student design specialist.
  • Work to ensure the retention, growth and effectiveness of creative student employees that will assist in building motion graphics for air.
Coordinate and Manage Delivery of Graphics Products
  • As a central source for post-production graphics at BYU Broadcasting this position will coordinate the timely delivery of graphics products, formats and platforms to their intended destinations including the following: Post-Production, Studios, Production Trucks, Web, Master Control, and Distributors as needed.
  • This person will help coordinate student, staff, and contract workers to deliver production elements on time, efficiently and to BYUB\xe2\x80\x99s standards.
Quality Control
  • Work to ensure the overall technical and artistic quality of all graphic elements produced by and for BYU Broadcasting is of the highest quality.
Graphics Industry Research and Personal Learning
  • Constantly research and follow all new graphic production techniques and products.
  • Work to implement these new techniques into workflows and training.
  • Constantly monitor and research graphic trends and possibilities that could be applied to BYU Broadcasting properties.
Education/Experience Minimum education/experience required: 4+ years of professional motion graphic design and creation for broadcast. Expert level proficiency with Adobe After Effects and related software. Must have an outstanding portfolio that displays creative conceptualization, production proficiency and creation. Preferred: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree +4 years of professional motion graphic design and creation for broadcast. May substitute experience for education on a year for year. Master level proficiency with such software as Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4-D, and server render solutions. Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
  • Highly skilled in creation of broadcast motion graphic creation and design.
  • Must be highly creative and imaginative in the designing process for motion graphics.
