We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Officer to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding clients through the mortgage loan process, assessing creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Mortgage Loan Officer will work closely with clients, underwriters, and other banking professionals to facilitate smooth and efficient loan transactions.
Responsibilities
Originate mortgage loans by assessing client needs and financial situations through comprehensive credit analysis and documentation review.
Guide clients through the loan application process, explaining terms, options, and regulatory requirements such as TILA and Fair Housing regulations.
Prepare and review loan documentation using financial software such as Quicken and other accounting tools.
Negotiate terms with clients and third-party vendors to secure favorable loan conditions while ensuring compliance with FNMA guidelines.
Collaborate with underwriters to facilitate loan approval processes, including processing applications and verifying borrower information.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage servicing procedures, escrow processes, and banking regulations related to loans.
Conduct credit analysis, evaluate financial statements, and perform basic math calculations to determine loan eligibility.
Ensure all contracts, disclosures, and legal documents are accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations including TILA.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly and professionally throughout the loan lifecycle.
Stay informed about industry trends, new financial software tools, and changes in mortgage laws to continuously improve service delivery.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Loan Officer or in mortgage origination within a banking or financial services environment.
Strong knowledge of FNMA guidelines, underwriting procedures, mortgage servicing, escrow processes, and Fair Housing regulations.
Proficiency in financial software such as Quicken, accounting software, mortgage-specific platforms, and basic math skills including 10 key typing.
Excellent negotiation skills combined with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
Familiarity with loan processing systems, credit analysis techniques, contracts management, TILA compliance, and banking operations.
Ability to analyze financial statements accurately and perform detailed credit assessments.
Effective communication skills for explaining complex loan terms clearly to clients.
High level of organization with attention to detail in document preparation and data entry.
Previous experience in sales within a financial context is preferred but not required; a strong understanding of sales principles is advantageous.
