Job Summary:



Observes, records, and responds to patients' heart rhythms. Answers patient call lights via an intercom system and pages the message to the caregiver. Performs other activities and duties as assigned. The MT can also function as a Nursing Assistant under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant provide age appropriate care in a culturally and ethically sensitive manner. The Nursing Assistant assists patients with the following tasks related to the activities of daily living. Reports to the Nurse Manager of the assigned unit and the RN's on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:


Completion of certified nursing assistant program is required. In lieu of certified nursing assistant, a minimum of 2 years experience as monitor technician is required. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.


TRAINING DESCRIPTION:


Must successfully complete a Cardiac Rhythm certification program and have successfully completed orientation to the monitor room. If MT has experience, may complete a paper rhythm test for competency.


SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:


Ability to read & write and communicate verbal and written communication.


LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:


State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
