Duties and Responsibilities

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a Temporary, One-Year Instructor Appointment (non-renewable) for academic year 2023-2024. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than 20 full-time faculty members, over 12 majors and minors, and a graduate program in Hispanic Studies. Duties and Responsibilities: Teach four undergraduate courses per semester ranging from beginning to high intermediate level ASL courses, as well as courses in deaf culture, and potentially coordinate the work of additional ASL instructors as needed. Work with the Chair and other MLL and CAS colleagues to develop and propose a minor in ASL for the Department and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Qualifications

The candidate will have at minimum an MA in Sign Language Education. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
