Job Description

The Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a vital role in supporting patient diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care through the performance of accurate and timely laboratory testing. This position is responsible for conducting a wide range of clinical laboratory procedures, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and committed to delivering reliable results that contribute to exceptional patient care.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities




Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, and blood bank. Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens following established protocols and safety standards. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality control requirements. Record, interpret, and report test results with precision and within required turnaround times. Perform and document quality control procedures; troubleshoot testing or equipment issues as needed. Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of laboratory activities, testing processes, and results. Comply with all infection control, safety, and laboratory regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, and OSHA. Participate in proficiency testing programs and engage in ongoing continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance technical competency. Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, nursing staff, and fellow laboratory personnel to support high-quality diagnostic outcomes. Assist in training, orienting, and supporting new laboratory staff as required. Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection when needed.

The average compensation for this position is $21.11- $30.89 an hour depending on the experience and level of certification

Education:





Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (MT) or related science field.


Licensure/Certification:



National certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certifying agency required.



State licensure, if applicable.


Experience:

Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered based on certification and education.
