Job Summary:

The Systems Effectors: Processing, Guidance & Control Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radar and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) Signal Processing; and missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation for Raytheon\'s broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products.

As a Senior Principal Signal Processing Engineer, you will collaborate in the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of radar and/or Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) algorithms and models. Used across our products and new business initiatives, these signal processing algorithms accomplish calibration and de-noising of raw sensor data; detection, tracking and classification of objects; sensor fusion; and countermeasure rejection.

This position is an onsite role based in Tucson , AZ .

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • You will act as a recognized signal processing subject matter expert, technical leader, and/or functional leader responsible for the budget, schedule, development, execution, and completion of complex program objectives.
  • You will use and modify simulations for the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of radar and/or EO/IR algorithms and models.
  • You will participate in production, engineering lab, field test environments to test, verify, and validate radar and/or EO/IR models and signal processing algorithm performance in accordance with requirements.
  • You will collaborate in all development phases from program start-up to live-fire testing, making improvements to processes and providing signal processing expertise in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical briefings to internal and external customers.
  • You will oversee a technical team, mentor engineers, and/or manage an engineering project.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor\'s degree in STEM and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience programming in C, and/or object-oriented programming experience in C++, Java, and/or Python.
  • Experience with radar and/or EO/IR signal processing algorithm development and analysis.
  • Experience integrating radar and/or EO/IR signal processing algorithms in real-time, embedded software systems.
  • Experience running, modifying, and/or evaluating simulations.
  • Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Experience using MATLAB and/or Python for evaluation and analysis of data sets.
  • Experience using UNIX/Linux-based workstations.
  • Experience with missile components and systems.
  • Strong communication, interaction, planning, and time management skills.
  • Current DoD security clearance or SSBI.
