The Millwright / Welder is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, mechanical equipment, and structures within the plant or industrial facility. This role requires expertise in welding, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Installation & Maintenance:
Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, motors, and other industrial systems.
Conduct inspections and troubleshooting of mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues before they lead to breakdowns.
Align, assemble, and install equipment according to blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
Welding & Fabrication:
Perform welding and fabrication tasks (stick, MIG, TIG, and/or flux core) on various metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Repair or replace broken parts, weld cracks, and fabricate custom components as needed for machinery and structural systems.
Use a variety of welding techniques to ensure strong and durable welds that meet safety and quality standards.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety standards and regulations while working with heavy machinery and in high-risk environments.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent accidents and injuries.
Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and safe for use.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Diagnose issues with mechanical and welding systems and take corrective actions as necessary.
Test and inspect completed repairs to ensure proper functionality and safety.
Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
A clean driving record is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent training program.
Certification in welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick welding) is preferred.
3-5 years of experience as a Millwright or Welder, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and motors.
Experience in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core) and working with different metals.
Competency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding machines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs or more).
Comfort working in confined spaces, at heights, and in challenging conditions.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise welding and mechanical work.
Work Environment:
The position may involve working in noisy, dirty, or hazardous conditions where safety protocols must be strictly followed.
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet deadlines or address urgent repairs.
