A millwright is a skilled tradesperson who uses heavy-duty equipment and blueprints to assemble, disassemble, move, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and industrial machinery. Millwrights complete comprehensive industrial and mechanical projects in various industrial environments, such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and factories. Millwrights use specialized tools, such as hydraulic bolters and welders, to carry out their duties.
Responsibilities:
Bulding new and repairing defective machine parts using welding and brazing tools
Assembling machinery and equipment using power tools and welding equipment
Operating hoisting and lifting devices, including cranes, jacks, and tractors, to position parts during installation
Aligning equipment using specialized tools, such as micrometres and plumb bobs
Performing preventative maintenance procedures and accurately logging maintenance
Reading blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities
Collaborating with construction teams and engineers
Applying mechanical repair principles and procedures to ensure machinery functions properly
Reviewing and following highly technical and complex machinery manuals
Assembling and disassembling machinery and transporting it to the appropriate storage location
Constructing foundations for machinery
Performing diagnostic tests on functioning machinery to ensure it's safe
operating machine tools, to fabricate parts necessary for the overhaul, maintenance, or setup of machinery
Adjusting complex machinery for new patterns and products
Cleaning and lubricating machinery
Maintaining parts and tools inventory
Qualifications:
Willingness to work in heavy industrial environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding. Must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards.
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
Assembling and dissambling mechanical equipment and industrial machinery
Machibery repair and knowledge of industrial mathematics
Basic electrical knowledge of how electrical systems work esp. wrt machinery and equipment
Team player and willing to work with minimal supervision
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work
Working Conditions:
Plant and surface mining environment with periodic visits to the office area.
Heavy industrial environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding. Must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards.
Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
Must be willing to work overtime and flexible shifts as required

Pay: From $29.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
