Job Summary:
Sudberry Millwork LLC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Millwork Craftsman - Installer to join our team. This role is essential to producing high-quality millwork, cabinetry, casework, and custom woodwork for our clients. The ideal candidate is experienced in woodworking and comfortable working with a variety of tools and materials to create precision products that meet detailed specifications. They will work closely with project managers, drafters, and the shop foreman to ensure projects are completed on time and meet our exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate OR install
custom millwork components including cabinets, trim, doors, paneling, built-ins, and specialty wood features.
Read and interpret
architectural drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.
Measure, cut, assemble, and fit
millwork pieces with precision and accuracy.
Perform
on-site installations
, ensuring clean, accurate, and stable placement of all components.
Operate a variety of
woodworking tools and equipment
, including saws, routers, sanders, planers, and hand tools.
Conduct
finish work
, including sanding, filling, adjusting, and touch-ups.
Maintain a
clean and safe job site
, following company and OSHA safety standards.
Communicate professionally
with clients, contractors, and team members.
Troubleshoot and resolve on-site installation issues with minimal supervision.
Ensure
high-quality craftsmanship
and attention to detail in every phase of the project.
Load, transport, and unload materials and tools in a safe, organized manner.
Quality Control and Finishing:
Perform detailed inspections of completed products to ensure they meet quality specifications and client expectations.
Apply appropriate finishes, stains, and protective coatings to completed woodwork to achieve the desired aesthetic and durability.
Conduct final quality checks to ensure each piece is ready for installation, coordinating with the Project Manager for any modifications needed.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, drafters, and the shop foreman to clarify project requirements and resolve any design or construction issues.
Communicate any changes or adjustments needed to drawings with the design team to ensure a smooth workflow.
Participate in project kick-off meetings as necessary to understand scope, timelines, and any special requirements.
Maintenance and Safety:
Ensure proper maintenance of woodworking equipment, tools, and shop environment to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment when operating machinery.
Assist in keeping the workshop organized, clean, and fully stocked with materials
Experience
Experience in millwork, cabinetry, or custom woodworking.
Proven experience in fabricating custom cabinetry and millwork in a production or workshop environment.
Skills:
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Skilled in the use of woodworking equipment, including saws, routers, sanders, and planers.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and follow project specifications.
Knowledge of material properties, finishes, and construction techniques related to millwork and cabinetry.
Physical stamina and ability to lift and handle heavy materials.
