Overview

St. John the Beloved School is seeking a qualified candidate to teach English & Language Arts (ELA) in the middle school, grades 6 - 8, for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will implement intellectually stimulating activities for middle school students, plan and execute exceptional instruction, communicate professionally with all members of the school community, commit to professional growth, collaborate with parents/guardians to ensure the developmental success of every student, create a safe classroom environment, and cultivate a classroom of inquiry and fun. The successful candidate will possess a true passion for working with students. Candidates must be committed to the ministry of Catholic education by supporting the teachings, values, and traditions of the Catholic Church, contributing to the faith life of the school, and modeling and promoting the mission and charism of the school.

Duties

Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles. Utilize learning technology and instructional design to enhance student engagement and understanding. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a conducive learning environment. Conduct assessments and standardized testing to evaluate student progress. Provide mentoring support to students as needed. Collaborate with colleagues on educational initiatives. Maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration regarding academic performance and classroom dynamics. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.

Requirements

Hold or be eligible for Delaware licensing/certification Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education from an accredited institution/university Proven experience working with students in an educational setting; classroom experience is essential (at least 1 year) Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff Clearance on all required background checks
