Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges. This position involves working closely with patients to provide care, support, and assistance in their daily activities while promoting a safe and therapeutic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of behavioral health practices and demonstrate compassion and patience in their interactions with patients.

Duties

Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Implement behavior management strategies and support patients in coping with emotional and behavioral challenges. Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records as required. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Provide support to children and individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. Engage patients in therapeutic activities that promote social skills, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes to the clinical team. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.

Requirements

Experience in behavioral health settings or related fields is preferred. Knowledge of applied behavior analysis techniques is a plus. Familiarity with special education practices and PTSD care is beneficial. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective documentation and interaction with patients. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Compassionate approach towards patient care with a focus on empathy and understanding. Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Must be able to pass background checks as required by the facility.
