Job Summary

Incumbent will be responsible to deliver culturally sensitive, competent behavioral health services to clients for KIC Tribal Health Clinic Behavioral Health Department. This position will determine nature of client's situation through assessment, develop and initiate individualized treatment plans, provide individual and group counseling, facilitate all aspects of outpatient treatment, and document progress in an electronic health record. Incumbent will be responsible for general coordination of counseling services and have sufficient personal mobility to complete field work at various locations. Position may include evening and weekend hours

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Provides clinical behavioral health services to Tribal members of any age who are experiencing mental health symptoms. Provide services including individual and family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation services as necessary. Provide individual and family counseling for an array of mental health symptoms. Perform screenings, intake and assessment, interview client, family members, and others (as necessary), assess medical, emotional, social and educational information. Provide information and outreach intervention services to Tribal members as requested. Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives. Complete documentation consistently and in compliance with department, state, and federal policies and regulations. Provide referrals to appropriate agencies and other related services. Maintain an understanding of and work effectively with other community and state agencies to provide a collaborative continuum of care for mutual clients. Follow professional code of ethics including confidentiality, individual rights, professional and legal issues in providing services. Participate in required clinical staffing and weekly supervision within the Behavioral Health Department as well as with other outside agencies as needed Collaborate with treatment team members where appropriate, including KIC Medical Clinic, to provide holistic care. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations. Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for clinical programs and "best practice" techniques. Knowledge of social problems experiences by Alaska Natives and American Indians. Knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse services available in the community and some familiarity with state-wide services. Knowledge of screening and identification of symptoms of alcohol/drug abuse and withdrawal. Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants. Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software. Ability to provide behavioral health treatment services in a clinical and community-based setting. Ability to exercise mature judgement in evaluating specific situations and recommending solutions. Ability to listen, observe, and record a variety of information and situations. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.). Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures. Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Conditions of Hire

May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license or capable of obtaining one, as well as be insurable by KIC's company insurance. KIC is a Drug-Free Workplace. All employees must adhere to KIC drug and alcohol policies and procedures to ensure a safe workplace. Employees must pass a pre-employment and subsequent random and/or for cause drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment. KIC has several positions that must comply with the P.L. 101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act (ICPA); all employment offers in the "covered" classification are conditional until KIC has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs. Qualifications

Clinician I Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy or related field Ability to achieve licensure in the State of Alaska as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT within two years of hire. Experience working in a behavioral health clinic or similar setting through employment or practicum. Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Clinician I Preferred Education & Experience

Experience providing clinical services to 1 or more priority populations including children, youth, people with substance use disorders, or serious mental illness.

Clinician II Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Current licensure in the State of Alaska as an LPC, LCSW, or LMFT; or ability to transfer out of state license within 6 months of hire. 2 years post-graduate experience in a behavioral health setting.

Clinician II Preferred Education & Experience

Experience providing clinical services to 1 or more priority populations including children, youth, people with substance use disorders, or serious mental illness. Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork Experience working in a Tribal healthcare setting and with American Indian and Alaska Native people.

Clinician III Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Current licensure in the State of Alaska as an LPC, LCSW, or LMFT; or ability to transfer out of state license within 6 months of hire 5+ years experience as a licensed mental health clinician

Clinician III Preferred Education & Experience

Doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling or other relevant field. 8 years experience as a mental health clinician Supervisory credential in the state of Alaska or ability to achieve within 6 months of hire. Experience providing clinical services to 1 or more priority populations including children, youth, people with substance use disorders, or serious mental illness. Experience in a community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork * Experience working in a Tribal healthcare setting and with American Indian and Alaska Native people.
