TITLE: Part-Time Men\'s Lacrosse Team Assistant Coach
DEPARTMENT: Office of Student Involvement & Leadership Development
SUPERVISOR: Sarah Potrikus, Assistant Director of Student Involvement & Leadership Development
SSTA APPROVER: Christine Pulsifer
SCHEDULE: 3-4 weekly practices/meetings when in season. Attend scheduled games, events, and film reviews.
HOURLY RATE: $18.25

General Statement of Duties:

Is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in organizing and directing all aspects of the Club Lacrosse Team program in conjunction with the Lacrosse Team officers. Is cognizant of, and responsible for adhering to, all rules, regulations, and policies of Worcester State University, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development, and those organizations with which the University club sport programs are affiliated.

Responsibilities:

1. Will attend each practice and competition, as well as meetings and events as needed.

2. Will work with the Head Coach and Lacrosse Team officers to provide and implement a structured safe practice that enhances all elements of lacrosse, including, but not limited to defensive and offensive skills and physical conditioning and exercise.

3. Ensures that team practices are safe and follow standard safety guidelines.

4. Will work in conjunction with the Head Coach and Lacrosse Team officers on developing the schedule of competitions and events.

5. Ensures that all student-athletes have completed physicals with WSU.

6. Shall adhere to the weekly hours schedule established by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development.

7. The Assistant Coach cannot be a current member of the team.

8. The Assistant Coach will uphold and maintain proper health and safety policies/procedures as required by the University.

9. Shall adhere to all rules of Worcester State University.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications: * Successful/Previous experience coaching Lacrosse at a collegiate, high school, or comparable level.

  • Knowledge of current coaching techniques, as well as NCAA Lacrosse rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse college student community as well as differing skill levels.
  • Knowledge of the Club Sport structure and an ability to work within that structure and with the Executive Board of the Lacrosse Team collaboratively.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified
Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor\'s degree preferred
2. May or may not be a current employee of WSU
3. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (i.e., students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration and community)
