Job Description

Downeast Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative created in 1941 to provide additional value and financial options to its membership. The chosen candidate will become an advocate for our membership and will assist our team in accomplishing all objectives associated with the "People helping People" philosophy.

Position Purpose



The floating member service representative (teller) will work at various branch locations as needed to provide coverage and support for staffing shortages. The branches that will be covered are located in Calais, ME, Baileyville, ME, and Machias, ME. The primary goal of this position is to ensure member satisfaction by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, processing transactions, and promoting services. The position acts as a point of contact, handling a variety of tasks related to membership and account management.

Key Responsibilities:



Branch Coverage

: Filling in at different branch locations to cover staff shortages or absences.

Adaptability

: Adjusting to different branch environments, workflows, and member needs.

Handling Inquiries and Requests

: Answering questions, providing information, and assisting members with account-related tasks, such as opening or closing accounts, processing transactions, and resolving issues.

Problem Resolution

: Addressing member complaints, resolving disputes, and escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.

Transaction Processing

: Handling deposits, withdrawals, check cashing (examine documents for endorsement and negotiability), loan payments, and other financial transactions.

Knowledge growth

: staying up to date on credit union policies, procedures, and product offerings.

Promoting Services

: Educating members about available products and services by identifying opportunities that meet their needs and referring them to the appropriate department(s).

Record Keeping

: Maintaining accurate member records and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Communication

: Communicating effectively with members, both verbally and in writing, through various channels like phone, email, or in-person interactions. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people including fellow team members, members, management, board members and outside vendors.

Cash Handling

: Accurately balancing cash drawer, processing payments, and handling financial transactions.

: The ability to analyze situations, identify solutions, and resolve issues effectively is essential.

: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to interact with members and document interactions.

Proficiency in using computer systems, software, and other relevant technologies is often required.

Product Knowledge:

Understanding the organization's products, services, and policies is necessary to provide accurate information and recommendations.

Attention to Detail:

Maintaining accurate records and processing transactions with precision is vital.
