to lead operations in our Melt and Raw Materials Storage Building (RMSB) areas. This role is responsible for safety, production performance, quality, and team leadership within a 24-hour manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong metallurgical knowledge, leadership experience, and a proven ability to manage teams and processes efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Conduct daily safety meetings, audits, and environmental compliance checks.
Lead by example and reinforce company safety standards across all shifts.
Operational Management
Oversee all Melt and RMSB personnel (16 team members including supervisors and leads).
Manage employee scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering for repairs, refractory work, and relines.
Supervise raw materials handling, inventory control, chemistry corrections, and melt process adjustments.
Maintain the melt department webpage and communication systems to support 24/7 operations.
Quality & Process Improvement
Write, review, and update all procedures, work instructions, and ISO 9000 documentation.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with corrective actions (CARs).
Plan and execute melt trials, collect and analyze experimental data, and implement process improvements.
Collaborate with engineers and metallurgists to enhance process reliability and yield.
Leadership & Communication
Provide consistent performance feedback and coaching to team members.
Conduct and document performance evaluations and corrective actions when needed.
Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations to plant management as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
5+ years
of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and production operations.
Hands-on experience with
refractory repair, relines, and metallurgical processes
.
Strong collaboration skills with R&D, Quality, and Procurement teams.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
Ability to multitask, solve problems independently, and adapt to change.
