Ringgold County Hospital a seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ER team for night shifts. The Med/Surg RN will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions in a rural hospital setting. This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

: Typical hours are 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, rotating weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions:

Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient's care plan in coordination with the physician. Provides total patient care. Provides patient/family or care giver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems. Supervises health care members (i.e., licensed practical nurses, nurse aides, EMT's) with patients. Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patient records. Utilizing the nursing process, plans and directs care of the emergency patient. Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Ringgold County Hospital Policies, Nursing Standards and professional judgment. Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use, i.e., IV Pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage/suction devices, etc. Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information. Initiates emergency support measures, ACLS, protecting patient from injury. Works assigned shift/shifts, weekends and holidays, as scheduled. Assists with patient care duties/tasks, i.e., hygiene, ambulation, elimination, etc. Assists with clerical/ward clerk duties, i.e., answering phones and call lights, maintaining patient record) Maintains patient care supplies, equipment and environment. Provides orientation/education for staff, students and other hospital and community organizations as requested. Effectively assumes job responsibilities of ancillary support during absence. Current RN license in the state of employment (or eligibility for reciprocity). BLS/ACLS certification (required); additional certifications (e.g., PALS, TNCC) preferred. Previous experience in acute care or critical access hospital settings is highly desirable. Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of care

Ringgold County Hospital

RCH is an affiliate of MercyOne. Services provided by our 16-bed critical access hospital have expanded far beyond inpatient care. We now provide same-day outpatient surgeries, infusion therapy, cardiopulmonary rehab, physical therapy, sleep studies, medical imaging, and more.



The hospital also owns and operates the Ringgold County Ambulance Service and the Mount Ayr Medical Clinic. We also regularly host specialty outpatient clinics, so our patients have access to the specialist care they need, when and where they need it. We are continually adding new services and equipment as resources permit, so we can continue to serve as your partner in health.

Mount Ayr Medical Clinic

is our rural health clinic located within Ringgold County Hospital. The current facilities were built in 2009 and features modern, large, and spacious. The physicians at Mount Ayr Medical Clinic treat patients of all ages between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The clinic also functions much like an urgent care facility, treating those without life-threatening symptoms but who require immediate medical attention.

Mount Ayr is located near the Iowa - Missouri border and is the county seat of Ringgold County, Iowa. Surrounding communities include Diagonal, Kellerton, Tingley, Ellston, Beaconsfield, Redding, Delphos, Maloy, Sun Valley Lake, and Benton.



Ringgold County is a popular destination for hunters and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Local parks, museums, and lakes provide a wide range of recreational opportunities. In the Mount Ayr area, you can fish, boat, cross-country ski, run trails, and more.
