Job Summary


The Medication Technician plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to residents in a healthcare setting. This position is responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient health, and ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of physiology and be knowledgeable about HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.

Duties



Administer medications to residents as prescribed, following established protocols and guidelines. Monitor and document vital signs, ensuring any changes in health status are reported to the nursing staff. Assist with catheter care and support residents with daily living activities as needed. Provide compassionate care to residents with dementia and memory care needs, fostering a supportive environment. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Ensure that all procedures adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications



Previous experience in home care or a similar healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with Cerner or other electronic medical record systems is advantageous. Knowledge of physiology and the ability to recognize changes in patient conditions. Strong understanding of dementia care practices and techniques. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and staff. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative in individual tasks. Certification or training related to medication administration is preferred.
