Join a 585+ bed Level I Trauma Center in Kansas City, Missouri, offering comprehensive medical and surgical services across specialty units including Neuro, Ortho, and Nephrology. This Medical-Surgical RN role provides the opportunity to care for a diverse adult patient population with medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurologic conditions in a 49-bed unit with 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratios. Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding patient health status, following evidence-based standards of care and disease-specific protocols. Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans to optimize clinical outcomes and maximize available resources. Provide direct nursing care for post-surgical patients including general surgery, urology, vascular, neuro, ortho, and nephrology cases. Monitor stable trauma patients and manage care for higher-acuity medical-surgical patients in a Level I Trauma environment. Supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN scope of practice and in accordance with established hospital policies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff to ensure seamless care delivery. Provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and clinical circumstances throughout the care continuum. Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic health records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Respond to changing patient conditions with clinical judgment, critical thinking, and appropriate interventions.

Qualifications

Required:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Current Missouri RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience (does not need to be recent) BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work rotating weekends and provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

Recent medical-surgical, telemetry, or acute care experience Experience in trauma, neuro, ortho, or nephrology nursing ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Compensation & Benefits
