Duties



Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing medical and surgical treatments, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories. Administer medications and injections accurately, following prescribed orders while monitoring for adverse reactions. Perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, suturing, and sterile dressing changes with precision and aseptic technique. Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and coordinate pain management plans tailored to individual patient needs. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information meticulously. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff to develop and implement personalized care plans. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing, imaging procedures like sonography or mammography, and respiratory support including ventilator management. Participate in triage activities to prioritize patient needs efficiently in urgent care or emergency room settings. Support discharge planning by educating patients on medication regimens, wound care, mobility exercises, and follow-up appointments. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards. Engage in ongoing professional development by staying current with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding updates, CPT coding practices for procedures, and relevant nursing certifications. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and hospital accreditation requirements.

Qualifications



Valid RN license in good standing with current state licensure requirements. Certifications required: BLS, ACLS Med/surg/ICU Could be 2 part time positions also Must have strong experience Night shift contract Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital medicine or outpatient settings; experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms for accurate documentation. Hands-on experience administering injections, IV infusions, catheter care, phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing. Skilled in advanced procedures including suturing, ostomy care, gastrostomy feeding management, and sterile processing techniques. Familiarity with specialized areas such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health considerations including dementia/dementia care or Alzheimer's care. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory care), individuals with developmental disabilities or long-term care needs. Critical care experience preferred; certification in basic life support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are advantageous. Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; compassionate approach aligned with patient safety priorities.
